608 bearing axle and housing bore, optimized for axle strength. Built in Fusion 360, fully parametrized, for use in other designs.

There are two versions, one for metal 608 bearings. The other for 3d printed bearings.

I've tested this with two popular printable 608's, the fast 608 bearing, and the 608 of the Print in place bearings. If you use the axle for the metal bearings with 3d printed bearings, the axle is a bit tight and the housing is a bit loose, so it'll work, but it's a poor experience.

For the 3d printed bearing variant, I decreased the axle diameter from 8.1 to 8, and decreasing the outside diameter from 22.1 to 22.

Metal 608's are fairly inexpensive and readily available - so i really do recommend those if you're able.

For the metal bearing version, the axle is tight at 8.1mm, and the housing bore is loose enough to recover your bearing without tools, with a default of 22.1mm. There's a slot in the housing bore to help you dislodge the bearing or axle if it's stuck on too tight.

Print orientation is important. The axle is designed be snapped into a separate base. This allows for the axle to be printed in an orientation that puts the layer lines perpendicular to the bearing. The axle's flat side should be printed facing the build plate. The print files are oriented for this by default.

You can tweak the params in fusion to get things really dialed in if you like.
