Draftosaurus Final Version

This is the final version of my popular Draftosaurus boxes that is easier to print, has a smooth finish, and still keeps all of the functionality of the original! Print the box and the lid without rotating the file. They should print bottom side down. There will be a very thin wall along the outside, so make sure you have good adhesion, but this new design means that the first layer doesn’t have to be perfect. 

The design comes in three varieties, no magnets, 6x2mm and 8x3mm. I haven’t tried 6x2, they seem a little weak to me but the box itself holds well so it should be just enough. The 8x3mm make a very strong and snappy box. But depending on your printer you may not need any magnets at all. This will accommodate printers that can print 0-.2mm tolerances well.

If using magnets be very careful of the polarity, because they will not come back out. My recommendation is to do the following:

1. Place 1 drop of superglue (gel is less messy but liquid works fine) in the hole of the lid piece.
2. Then gently push the magnet into the hole using something to protect your hands from the glue.
3. Let dry completely.
4. Attach one magnet to the glued lid magnet to ensure proper polarity.
5. Put 1 drop of glue into the hole in the box.
6. Use the lid to push the free magnet into the remaining hole, then gently pull off the lid.
7. Let dry completely.

You can also print and use my handy magnet tool to make sure you get the polarity right every time!
