After my work on the BeeBarn frame I decided to make a printable Laynes frame. Now yes with some woodworking tools material and time you can make these cheaper and faster. BUT sometimes you just need one, or lack the tools and material, or experience to use them safely. That is where this comes in 😃  Fully printable either as 1 piece with supports or each peice with space to interlock and glue them together.  Wire holes are provided complete with space for heated M3 inserts to protect the plastic from the wires.

I am working on printing the prototypes now. So updates to follow. I recommend PETG or ABS  NOT PLA.  I anticipate having to make the bottom and maybe the top bar thicker but time will tell.

I included a short “Drone” frame as well. This is based off of the idea from The Hive Doctor on youtube. This frame will allow for easy removal of non wired drone comb at the bottom of the bar to aid in Varroa control. My bees LOVE to make drone comb in my laynes hive and I remove a LOT of it at the end of the year but it is hard to remove mid year because of the wires.. this will allow for easy removal :) I make NO claims on how effective this will be as I am making this to test the concept. See video below for the original concept.

Now I have provided wiring holes but i have not figured out how to secure the wire yet. Again work in progress. In wood I would just use a tac nail with a wide head…  If you have any ideas please let me know.. at the moment my only thought is another hole to “melt” a nail in 😅😅😅
