What is it?

This is a car accessory, that you fix to yours car dashboard by double sided tape. Or just hold it in your hand and start running. It follows your cars (bodys) movement by rotating to the direction of your turning and points backwards while braking. Moreover it has an NFC tag that you can easily program. For example you hop into the car, tap this toy and it will automatically put your phone to car mode, starts playing your favorite music and starts a GPS with location of your choosing. Sky is the limit here.

It's a fun decor, that amuses kids as well as adults.

What you need other than 3D printed parts:

608 ball bearing, 2xM5 nut

Printing:

The base consists of three parts. It is an easy print, that does not require supports. Print everything out of PETG because the inside of your car can get very hot.

Assembly:

For the assembly you will need additional modified 608 ball bearing. What you need to do in order for it to have smooth operation is to remove the guards, soak it in acetone or IPA and remove the grease with a toothbrush for example. Finally spray it with some low viscosity oil like silicon oil.

Than just press the ball bearing onto the shaft (AF-01). Insert whole assembly to the case (AF-02) and snap on the lid (AF-03). Than just snap the shaft to the car and you are done.

How to print any car you want

You can modify any 3D model car you like by just placing STL “axle cutout” in the middle of any models front axle, “NFC cutout” for example under the hood and “nuts cutout” into the trunk for added weight. You just need to make sure, that it is just under the top layers for it to work properly.

You start by importing the .3mf file. You import it as a project.

Than you can replace the body(1x).stl by any 3D model you want. Preferably flat one without wheels. And rotate it so the car faces the front of the printer.

Than make the car at least 30 mm wide. Next you place the axle bot modifier to the same X axis point as the car and move it a little bit back of the front axle and snap it to the bed (z=1mm).

Than you take axle top modifier, put it into the same XY coordinates as a axle bot, but make the Z coordinate 4 mm

NFC modifier put anywhere but make it close to the top and so it is fully inside the car body.

The nuts modifier situate anywhere in the back fully enclosed by the car body. Just make sure the X axis is the same.

Than you slice it and put a pause at the layer that covers the NFC tag and the nuts compartment so you can insert it in while printing

Than you just print it, put in the NFC tag and 2x M5 nuts to the end and attach it to the base.

This is designed for NFC tags of diameter 25 mm. You can cut these to size with the scissors. Just make sure you do not cut the wire.
