After a major clean out of the accumulated detritus in my Mini's extruder I was having issues trying to square the x-y alignment. I decided perhaps I should roll with it and create a box design for which all the pieces could be printed in the same orientation. I figured that this would allow a greater tolerance for the somewhat average x-y alignment. The design requires just one color change, and relies on capturing the top and bottom inserts rather than using any glue. The internal dimensions of the box are 60mm x 93 mm, so make sure that your cards are smaller than this.

Printing Instructions

The inner and outer sleeves of the box are intended to capture the bottom and top lid inserts as the sleeves are being printed, so you will need to ensure that you have printed the two lid inserts first. Make sure you let them cool down completely before removing them from the build plate to prevent any warping.

Change filament color and then print the inner case, when the print pauses insert the bottom lid insert in the same orientation as it was printed. Ensure that the lid sits flush with the top of the inner and resume the print. If the lid insert does sit proud then try changing the insert orientation to see if you get a better fit. Repeat this process with the outer part of the case. When inserting the top lid insert, ensure that the logo is pointing towards the back of the printer.

Other stuff

- The box is designed to be printed with a 0.2mm layer height
- I used Overture PLA Professional for all parts
- For best results make sure that you print everything in the same orientation
