Description

PDF

An enclosure for a Raspberry Pi 3 or 4 (there are different models for both) running Octoprint. There is a slot for an 8 Neopixel strip and a 16mm button. I used the Adafruit Neopixel stick in particular since I found that the ones I got on Amazon would vary in mounting hole placement and size.

The button and button LED are powered by Octoprint-Enclosure and the Neopixel status strip by WS281X LED Status. I have a fan on the side powered directly to 5v (not sure where/when I got it) and 2 Adafruit LED Sequins hotglued to the lid to give it the amazing inner glow.

No supports needed for the case as long as your printer is tuned to bridge well.

The lid will friction fit to the base.

I printed my lid in Prusament Galaxy Black and the base in Proto-Pasta Nebula Multicolor.

Hardware Needed

2 M2x6 bolts - for Neopixel stick

2 M2.5x6 bolts - for Pi

2 M3x15 bolts and nuts - for fan

4 M3x10 bolts and nuts - for cleats

Note About Pi Installation

The Pi needs to be angled in first so that the network and USB-A ports go first and then rotate the board into place. The audio jack may catch slightly and will “pop” in.

Mounting

I made this specifically to mount on my cleat system. If you need to use another mounting system, the mount holes in the frame are spaced 50mmx53.3mm.
