These flex arms and base allow you to secure the work together hands free.  This allows you to have two hands for fluxing and sodering.

The friction between the ball and socket is sufficient to retain position reasonably well.  

I used PLA, which has a tendency to break. But even if one or two times are broken off the female part, the joint remains secure. 

There is also an adapter that mates with a metal alligator clip.   Find this “Aligator Clips Electrical, 20“ for ~$5 on Amazon.   Cut off each clip with ½” wire and remove the rubber boot  

To reduce breaking the tines, you might try PTEG, which is more flexible than PLA.

The three balls on one side of the base are for storing extra units.
