My version of storage box for 3d printed version of Catan designed by Dakanzla.
www.thingiverse.com/thing:2525047
This model was inspired by following storage boxes:
Version on pictures is “beta” version which do not have bottom cover and main core holder had pins cut of and holes plugged, which I removed from released version.
Alternative card holder
As there are different versions of Catan with different size of the resources cards.
The one I was designing for is the Polish version of the game which have smaller resources cards than in other versions.
For other versions of the card holder check remix by FrostbitShadow which may fit your game better: https://www.printables.com/model/437173-replacement-card-tray-and-addon-core-piece
Assembly
For top and bottom covers the frame brims are printed separately and then glued on to main part.
The top inlay (logo) was printed separately and then glued in.
Storage parts for pieces and cards uses 24 magnets to correctly position and hold in place. Used magnets are 3mm diameter and 6mm length axial magnets (same which could be used for assembly of Catan board pieces). They are mostly press fit into place but if they became loose you can use a bit of super glue to make sure that they stays in place.
Print parameters
Every part can be printed without raft or supports. To decrease the printing time I used 0.3 layers for most parts. Small boxes for pieces were printed with 0.2 layer height. There are very little requirements for strength so 2 outside walls and 10% infill is plenty enough.
Print every part one time expect player pieces box which should be printed in 4 copies.
Biggest part is 182x210mm so it will fit on beds of most common 3d printers (Prusa MK3, Ender 3)
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
