A very easy adapter to use a 120mm fan on the AXP90-x47 in the FormD T1 V1.1 case that mounts to the case instead of the cooler.
It is important that the fan sits directly on the cooler. I had to remove some decorative shrouds to fit the fan. In addition there are some cushions that gently press the fan onto the cooler when the side panels are close. Don't bother with this mod if your MOBO can't fit the fan directly on top of the cooler, because performance will be awful.
All in all, it did not improve thermals in my case (im using a 5800x with 130W power limit). On the contrary, the stock fan is as little bit cooler. But it is MUCH quieter and the fan noise is lower pitched and thus less annoying. The intermittent ramping, common on the 5800x is almost not noticeable. In addition the VRMs, Chipset etc. are cooled much better. The chipset is almost 20° cooler.
Stock fan:
50dB CB23 Multi 14485; AVG CLOCK 4.35 GHZ
120mm Mod using a noctua 12x15 croma black fan:
46dB CB23 Multi 14320; AVG CLOCK 4.25 GHZ
120mm Mod using a noctua 12x15 croma black fan with 2mm gap to the heatsink:
46dB CB23 Multi 14098; AVG CLOCK 4.1 GHZ
You don't need somethin crazy heat resistant, since the mount is not touching really hot parts. I used PETG. PLA should be avoided
Suggested settings:
0.2mm
100% infill
