VEX Multi-Color Magnetic License Plate

Never worry about swapping your license plate again!

This is a VEX V5-Compatible and V5RC Legal magnetic license plate. The plate is meant to be printed in multicolor, with embedded text for your team number or custom text, and one half being blue and the other red. The included 3MF is pre-colored and formatted in OrcaSlicer, so you just need to input your team number and print!

This model has been tested in V5RC matches and has passed every inspection it has been put in. Of all the matches this design was put through, the license plate never fell off of the robot it was installed on (unlike other 3D-Printed holders and plates, which were promptly trampled by our robot). 

Installation

The plate holder consists of five VEX-Compatible screw holes in the back to fasten it to the frame of your robot. Once tightened with nuts and bolts, you're done! Simply slap the magnetic license plate into the holder and viola! Never worry about unscrewing or zip-tying the plate to your robot again! Simply pry the plate off the holder, flip, and throw it right back on. This makes moving between matches at least a little less chaotic.

When adding the magnets to the plates, please ensure all magnets are placed in the correct orientation. All magnets in the holder should have the same pole facing up, so the license plates can then have the opposite pole facing up in order for each piece to be attracted to each other. If this is done incorrectly, you will have a hard time putting the license plate into the holder and it may fall off during a match. 

If friction-fitting the magnets, you may only want to use 2 magnets on each side of the plate in alternating corners in order to make sure the magnets do not repel each other out of the license plate over time. My team put all 8 magnets into each plate and glued them in, which works well enough (if you can get over the fact that some magnets protrude slightly). 

Required Components:

• 4x2mm Circular Magnets (4-8 per license plate, 4 per holder)
• 1-6 VEX screws (to fasten the holder to the robot)
• A VEX robot to put it on
