This is a remix of @PaulGrimes_855599's tenting base for the Keychron Q11 split keyboard. This design is set up for Keychron's own wooden palm rest but it should work fine with many others too.
Some problems I had with the original and my attempts to fix them:
- The connection between the keyboard and the tenting base failed for me (the rubber foot pads started to detach)
- Changed the way that the keyboard attaches to the tenting base. This version of the base fits into the foot pad area on the Q11 and can accept screws to rigidly connect the base to the keyboard.
- Too flexy side to side
- Tightened up the spacing in the “dovetail” or “puzzle piece” to reduce flex.
- Made a version that eliminates the dovetail entirely to eliminate flex.
- When using the tenting base without wrist rests, the base sticks out from under the keyboard
- Moved the location of the dovetail to hide the base under the keyboard
There are two models:
- “removable_wrist_rest” has a dovetail between the keyboard and wrist sections so that you can separate them.
- “rigid_wrist_rest” has no dovetail.
Required modifications:
- Remove two adhesive foot pads from each side of the keyboard.
- Drill two ¼" holes into your wrist rests. I included a drilling guide pdf to take the guess work out of it. Make sure it's printed 1:1 before using!
Optional modifications:
- To attach the support to the keyboard with screws, remove the bottom cover from your keyboard, drill a hole in the center of the two foot pad wells, and screw them together. I used a 1/8" bit and m3x6 flat head screws. Wafer head screws would be better.
- To change the tenting angle, fire up Fusion 360, modify tab → change parameters, and look for “TentingAngle”.
Version history:
- V3: eliminated the separate wrist rest pegs from the original model. Printed them directly on the tent. It turns out this was a bad idea since the pegs are weaker and will sheer off.
- V6: reverted wrist rest pegs to be printed separately and inserted into the tenting base.

Differences of the remix compared to the original
- Updated attachments:
- Tent-to-keyboard:
- Attachment is now a peg instead of a hole. Remove the keyboard's rubber feet and this peg will fit in the recess.
- Option for attaching the keyboard to the tent with M3x6 screws.
- Made a rigid one-piece version of the tent
- For two-piece version: moved “dovetail” underneath the keyboard so it doesn't stick out when no wrist rest is attached.
