Karlson was a few years ago one of the most hyped games on Steam at the detriment of its author. Indeed, Dani crumbled under the pressure he built up by hyping his game in the making. It came to the point where anywhere he went, he was reminded that he should finish his game; even big companies contacted him to have updates.

Although the game isn't released to this day, a demo and his devlog persist. It is in these that Billy was unveiled as a nice little in-game companion. After all this time, it is his friendly face that popped up when I asked myself what robot to 3dprint, so that's what I did.

You can find more information about Billy here: https://karlson.fandom.com/wiki/Billy

Although other models exist, this one is my take on him. I adapted his design to be articulated for 3D printing. Everything is also printable on a regular non-MMU printer.

The fusion file is provided would you want to adjust the tolerances, see how it's done or simply edit the model easily.

Printing Information:

  • Split the model into its parts before printing each piece separately.
  • Use tree supports to support the top of the connector holes.
  • When a piece has a flat face, print on it. The lower legs can be printed upright while the upper legs should be printed laying on the side.
  • Use a brim around the small pieces to increase their stability

Note that while this model is free to use, keep in mind that the character it's based on is property of Dani, so you should ask his permission would you want to use it commercially.
