Simple yet effective trap suitable for capturing shrimp, crawfish, minnow, and other creatures.
Free, open-source, parametric; designed using ShapeScript.
Corrosion-free (leaves no rust marks on your boat);
No electrolysis next to other titanium parts (shackles, rings, etc);
Light and strong;
The entrance is small;
A creature gets in;
The creature is stupid;
The creature can’t find its way out;
The creature gets trapped;
4 × titanium grills
40 × strong zip ties (16 per entrance, 8 to hold the walls together)
1 × glow-in-the-dark tag (optional)
100% infill TPU for entrances is the way to go. Bonus points for transparent filament. Heads up: long print, takes about 12 hours per side.
Use good zip ties to tie everything together (never underestimate how strong crabs can be). Ideally, the four BBQ grills need to be welded together. Zip ties will eventually get broken (again, crabs are very strong), so using lots of fishing line instead is not a bad idea, but it's much more time-consuming.
Hint: Tie the glowing tag (or bait container) in the center of the trap — this way it ensures visibility and won't be reachable from the outside.
