A highly customizable set of caps for any potentiometers in use on DJ equipment. Specifically designed for the D pots commonly found in mixing gear. The customization options allow for a simple switch to round pots.

The design comes in two forms - whole and split.

  • Whole caps are single pieces. You will either need to print multi-material or in one color and use a marker or other method to emphasize the pointer.
  • Split caps come as a cap and separate pointer. This allows for the printing of the cap in one color and the pointer in another. For machines that do not do simple multi-material printing, this is simple and low waste. The parts should fit via friction but some glue would help.

The OpenSCAD file contains options for almost every part of the design. If you don't match the standard, set your own and create a custom model.

Printing:

  • Print with 2 walls and 10-20% infill
  • PLA and PETG tested and both work well
  • 0.16 - 0.2mm layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle
  • Choose the file based on the following:
    • Base: 14dot2 == 14.2mm base;  18dot5 == 18.5mm base
    • Height: 15dot4 == 15.4mm height;  19dot6 == 19.6mm height
    • Angle: No angle listed == 180 degrees from the pointer;  90deg == 90 degrees from the pointer
    • Pointer style: Separate pointer means a split model;  no mention of pointer means integrated model
  • If you don't find the file you want, use the OpenSCAD file to make it.
    • NOTE: Larger cap diameters will look like the knurling is broken when previewing the design. This is because the preview has only 12 faces for a circle. When you render the design, the knurling will be in place (see the example rendered image with an 80mm base diameter and fully present knurling).
