Yarn Winder TP Roll Adapter

This is a simple adapter for one of those yarn winders. Spinning yarn remnants can be problematic as the balls don't keep their shape as well as the full yarn skeins. The TP cardboard cores are prefect to keep all the unruly yarn remnants in shape. Solution is easy and cheap, just print this adapter and fit a TP cardboard core onto it. I use a little masking tape to secure the yarn tail onto it before I spin. If your winder looks like mine with a twist lock, then this adapter should work for you as well. 

Printing instructions:

• Potential materials: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA 
• Supports: Yes
• Layer height: I recommend to use “height range modifier” or equivalent for your software. Print at 0.1 mm from 0 to 2.5 mm of height for the twist lock portion. The rest can be printed as coarse as you are willing (I printed at 0.3 mm)

UPDATE:

If you come across a thinner TP tube, add some masking tape on the inside to add more bulk.

UPDATE 2:

As some of you have experienced this, I have come across TP rolls that just don't fit. I have uploaded a Fusion file so you can modify it to fit your rolls. Also, if you would rather just print the cone, the fusion file is parametric. There are 3 parameters to adjust:

height - the cone height

diameter1 - bottom diameter of the cone

diameter2 - top diameter of the cone
