GGs Looper!
Are you tired of boring standard loot from standard chests? Do you want some rare stuff? OK, take this rare blue chest for some fantastic loot!

This was more work than I initially thought. But now it is finally finished: Fortnite's Rare Chest

The model is not a game rip. I designed it from the scratch according to some screenshots I took in the game.

The print is quite challenging - you need lots of support because the original design of the chest is really not made for printing.  And be aware that the assembly will take some time. There are 25 different parts that need to be glued together.
To check the design I printed three prototypes and a lot of partial test prints.  But of course I cannot test every filament, every setting and every printer. If you print this model please give me some feedback if the print profile and the assembly is ok for you. Maybe there is a flaw that I have not seen yet. I am always open to optimize my design or print profiles.

Print preparation:
Make sure that your print bed is clean and grease-free and use a quality brand, dry filament. And calibrate your filament. An incorrect flow setting can lead to assembly problems. If you are having bed adhesion issues try using printer-glue on your plate.

Print settings:
Use the 0.2mm standard settings for everything and change to the 0.12mm setting if you want more details. Some parts need support. With 25 different parts to be printed it is simply too much to list every detail, so take a look at my 3mf print profiles (for Orca and Bambu).

Assembly:
Remove all supports and brims thoroughly! Deburr and clean all parts. Take special care of the hinge holes.

Glue the two hinges to the top of the chest.

It should now look like this:

Add the top binder to the lid. Use glue to fix it. Repeat for the other side.

Glue the blue insert to the lid.

And now add the top tiles with glue.

The top side binders must be glued to the lid.

Make sure that the sealing surface of the lid is flat and free of glue. Use a file if necessary.

Add the top lockplate with glue to the lid.

Put the bottom insert into the bottom half of the chest. Fix with glue.

Glue the lockplate in place.

And add the tiles.

Now put the the lid on top of the chest. Use a piece of 1.75mm filament as hinge pins on both sides.
The better you deburred the hinges the easier this assembly step is.

Almost there - glue the bottom side binders to the chest.

And finally clip the handles in place.

Congratulations! You have now your own rare Fortnite loot chest!
