I built it using:

  • ~3m total of tape measure, width 19mm (¾")
  • ~80cm of Φ25 PVC tube
  • RG58 cable
  • 1x BNC female panel mount socket (note necessary)
  • a piece of wire as a hairpin
  • 6x screws M3x16 and 6x M3 nuts
  • electrical tape

3D parts idea from this model.

Almost all the available models are using a 1" tape measure and I  wanted to built it with 19mm (¾") tape measure. I tuned it using a nanoVNA and found that the SWR is better if I extend the driven elements from 451mm to 468mm.

I used it to send APRS messages to the ISS using a Quansheng UV-K5 radio (with custom firmware) and it worked fine.
