A charming brass brush holder for the Bambu Lab X1 & P1 series printers which functions as a nozzle broom. Installs into the factory Bambu Lab wiper location so the printer will automatically use the Brass Broomstick during normal operation. The factory wiper can be re-installed onto this model for dual cleaning action!
This model utilizes rotary tool brass polishing brushes, which are not only cheap and easy to acquire, but require zero modification to be installed. The brush simply gets pressed into the model and it's ready for service. Swapping and cleaning brushes is a breeze. They also look like mini brass broomsticks!
SETTINGS
20% infill, 3 walls, a brim if you have bed adhesion issues. No supports necessary.
Print Brass Broomstick model (do this before taking apart your printer).
Remove factory Bambu Lab nozzle wiper. This will require the AMS to be disconnected and top glass removed. The factory wiper screw ends up being too short to be effective on the Brass Broomstick, do not attempt to reuse it!
Install m3 x 3mm threaded insert into Brass Broomstick model. Take care to install on the correct side - the side with 3 holes (figure 1). Be sure the insert sits flush on the top side. I found I had to reheat the insert from underneath and pull the model down to be flush with the insert. Clean threads of melted plastic.
Using the threaded insert and a 3mm x 6mm screw, install factory Bambu Lab nozzle wiper onto Brass Broomstick model.
Cut corner off factory Bambu Lab nozzle wiper to be flush with Brass Broomstick model.
Install brass brush into Brass Broomstick model (figure 2).
Exercise care on the following step! Enlarge the hole that the factory BambuLab nozzle wiper used on the X1C poop chute using a 9/64" or 3.57mm drill bit. Clean hole of plastic burs.
Exercise care on the following step! Install m3 x 3mm threaded insert in the enlarged hole. Clean threads of melted plastic. Take care as this plastic melts differently than 3d printed parts. Be sure the insert sits flush on the mounting tab (figure 3). Clean threads of melted plastic.

NOTES
I've played with the location of the brass brush on the model and it appears to be best located slightly off center from the nozzle itself. This helps with the filament build up not sticking as much to the brush. I would like to test an angled brush mount and see if that makes any difference.
The print head occasionally will rest over the factory wiper/brass brush while it's heating up (I've noticed it after the first layer and lidar inspection completes while it's waiting for the nozzle to reheat). Filament will occasionally start to build up during this time period. Clean the brass bristles after printing has finished to prevent any issues with the next print.
TPU has a tendency to stick to the brass bristles. Clean the brass bristles after printing has finished to prevent any issues with the next print.
More testing will be conducted and this list will be updated.
