Problem Statement:
With a partner, you will design a “2D” placard using Solidworks. You and your partner will have the same design which meets the constraints below, and you will EACH use Solidworks to create your design.
Lesson Plan and Activity:
This is what I aimed for at the start:
First, make your sketch on an extruded square, and make the logo contours.
Then, on your sketch, convert entities and offset the stars and every other shape on the logo by 0.2 cm. Then, extrude between the offset and the original contours.
Repeat the same steps like before, but for different shapes
Once, you're done extruding every single part. Make a revolve axis right below the logo and swept boss base 65 degrees for the stand for the logo.
And finally, add filets to the stand to make it look cooler if you need.
And you can also add colors just to see what it would look like before you decide to print it.
Assembly/Construction Instructions Section:
First, lay out the stars and gently press them into the correct spot. Super glue is not needed for this step.
Then, lay out all the red and white stripes and gently press them together on the logo as they should easily go into the spot where they are supposed to be.
Then, add the right part of the triangle with the contours of the bear and the tree.
Then, put the left side of the triangle on the logo, that has the brown tree part with it.
Then, very carefully add the bear onto the spot, it should very easy to put it in the spot, it fits perfectly.
Then, put the green part of the tree onto the logo, and add the little piece in between the bear and the brown part of the tree.
Then you can add the very little piece that connects the white triangles near the green part of the tree.
And finally, add the red apples on the leaves, and if they do not fit, you can make an opening with something very small and sharp, or draw the apples with a red marker on the leaves.
Design Choices:
Adding Fillets on the stand was not part of the plan in the beginning, but It's something that should be done in order for the logo stand to look more appealing.
The part in between the bear and the tree was very little but still made as a part and was meant to be the same part as the bear.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
