I often leave my phone in my workshop or office and forget where it is, and have to search around. I explored various wall-mounts but nothing really spoke to me. A particular issue is that I keep my smartphone in a leather-ish case, so it's thicker than many will accommodate.
Starting with Tazik's simple phone-holder shape, I simplified the mesh a bit, and applied chamfers to the edges for a clean print. I grew the interior depth, thinned the walls substantially, and knocked out many cutouts to reduce the amount of material needed for a good print (less than 50g now). As well, I added wall-mount screw holes to allow twist adjustment for a nice level presentation, and then added a cable-holder to the side that should accept most USB-C cables to keep them handy for use while the phone is in the holder.
Not much left of the original design - but thanks to Tazik for the great starting point regardless.
An added benefit is that with a lower front and holes you can see more of the screen, so if you want to mount the phone in the on-state for some notes or video while working, you can do that too.
There's a bit of play in both directions, so the interior dimensions of 90mm x 24mm should be suitable for a wide range of smart phones.
The author remixed this model.
Changed most aspects of the design - simplified the mesh, chamfered all the edges for cleaner printing, made the cavity thicker for phone w a case on it, thinned all the walls, changed front profile and side shapes to a taper, added cut-outs to remove material, added a cable-holder/docking stub on the side, added wall-mount screw holes to allow mount and adjustment for levelling. Even with all those changes, the original was useful as a starting point so kudos to Tazik!
