The Delonghi Magnifica S is a bean-to-cup machine that comes with a manual steam wand. This wand is fitted with a nozzle for directing the steam, and a cappuccino sleeve locking the nozzle in place. The sleeve is great for creating bubbly light foam, but if you want to create the smooth, microfoam often associated with cafés and baristas, it becomes a hindrance.
This attachment serves as a replacement for the cappuccino sleeve, and keeps the nozzle locked in place, without disturbing the flow of the steam, created by the nozzle. It locks in place using the same tracks as the stock sleeve, and I've included just this lock as well, in case someone wants to design other attachments around it. Both .step and .shapr are included.
I found supports to be of great help when printing the part. Hybrid tree supports with a rectilinear grid base pattern has been easy to remove, while still supporting the part. I printed using a 0.4mm nozzle, and 0.08mm layer height in order to capture the fine details of the lock. Two walls with 15% infill should be sufficient.
Food safety is always a concern when printing for consumption. Ideally, this shouldn't be an issue here. When steaming only the tip of the nozzle should be submerged in the milk. I would, however, still remove and clean the attachment when cleaning the nozzle. Considering the light material cost (~4g) and quick print time, I would still recommend printing several and replacing them every now and then.
