I love using my Tiles, but their buttons drive me crazy! Even if you disable the “Find Your Phone” option in the app, pressing the button can still cause the Tile to chirp for about ten seconds. Furthermore, the buttons are incredibly sensitive, so carrying a Tile-equipped keychain in my pocket results in several false button presses per day. This is drains the battery and is just plain annoying!
To solve this issue, I wanted a case that:
I couldn't find a printable or commercially-available case that met all these criteria, so I designed my own! I've tested that it snugly snaps on my 2018 and 2020 Tile Pros, but I'm not sure about other models. I printed mine out of Matte Black Prusament PETG, with the default 0.20mm Structural/Quality profiles. No support is needed.
At first I was disappointed because I could still activate the button by squeezing the rim of the case very hard. However, I decided to test it by using on my keychain and placing them in my back pocket. A whole day went by walking around, sitting on it, bumping into things, etc. and not one accidental button press! Freedom at last!
02/09/2025 Edit: After a few weeks of use, I noticed that the cases developed a tendency to fall off. I've tweaked the model to use a tighter fit, which should fix this issue.
