I needed a copy stand, and TadTadd's camera mounting head looked excellent. Problem is, I didn't have any of the other Valoi components to start with, and I needed something to hold a section of 3030 extrusion upright. I used TadTadd's outline and general aesthetic to make a mounting base.
Printed in PETG, any nozzle, any layer height, 100% infill. You may get away with less material, but I'm trusting this with a heavy, expensive camera. The extrusion should be a press fit in the printed part (mine took a few hits from a mallet), and the base can be bolted to a solid table or a flat piece of plywood.
I used a 610mm length of this extrusion, bolted to a solid wood desk, and had no problem supporting a 3.5-pound camera and lens combo all the way at the top. There's a bit of vibration; you'll need a remote release and a DSLR should probably use mirror lock-up. Maybe even EFCS if you have the option.
I'm no good with FreeCAD, so I imported TadTadd's work into Onshape; both the original and the base are here.
The author remixed this model.
Used the outline and general aesthetic of TadTadd's camera mount bracket to produce a mounting base for 3030 extrusion, so you can create a copy stand from scratch with no Valoi parts. The extrusion should be a press fit in the printed part, and the base can be bolted to a solid table or a flat piece of plywood.
