we have a Duravit brand tub that has a drain plug that raises and lowers with a secondary dial just under the faucet. my curly hair sheds worse than our poodle, so we always need some sort of har catch, but with the up/down drain plug mechanism, nothing standard really works. the last thing we bought from Amazon was this dome that went over the whole drain plug but was pretty big and ugly and worked better at generating mold than actually catching hair.
so i built a hair strainer that can go under the plug with a hole in the middle if it to allow for the plug to still be inserted in the raised position and still dial to the closed position. BINGO!
designed the basic shape and then used a modifier to take out the upper and lower layers of the bottom plane and expose a 20% gyroid fill that works well as a hair catching mesh.
uses supports but still doesn’t take up much filament
