Friend of mine, professional photographer, asked me if I could print some battery holder/case/box for AA batteries for him (he uses them in portable flashes, has like 120 pieces of AA batteries). I went through some of such models here on printables but couldn't find preciseIy what I would like. But I took a lot of inspiration and armed with this I went and made my own.
This is inspired partly by beer crate battery holder (stackability) and partly by some others - ie. divide all the batteries in the group of fours and leave a bit space in between the groups for easier handling. The protrusions on the lower sides are there for easier grabbing with your fingers - smooth finish would be nice, but also not that practical.
I have used PLA for this, printed in 0.2mm layers, used tree supports for the protrusion on the bottom, 2 walls/perimeters and 15% gyroid infill.
It eats up almost 110 grams of filament using these settings! But it comes out pretty sturdy. I managed to scrape myself when I had the print in my hand and got caught up by one of the pillars of this holder on a shelf support rod - and nothing broke.
EDIT: Added lid so the top of the holder is flush. Not tested yet.
