I recently bought the large economy size (116 g) of a certain brand of cinnamon. The holes in the large economy size shaker lid are too big (7 mm), resulting in too much being dumped on my oatmeal. In the spirit of a certain auto racing organization I created a restrictor plate to slow down the flow.
Unscrew the lid, place the restrictor plate underneath, screw it back on. There are protrusions in the plate to help keep it lined up, but you might have to fiddle with it a bit. The overall diameter is 44 mm.
I found that 3.5 mm holes worked best with ground cinnamon. I also made a 4.5 and 5.5 version. All have their hole size embossed in the disk. I'm not sure about the 5.5, the 0.5 mm wall is getting pretty thin.
I added another one. This one is 34 mm. The holes were 6 mm, with non-adjacent holes 15 mm apart. This cuts them down to 3.5 mm.
