What was the plan?

Our plan was to create abstract works of art that could help you with everyday organization. While being functional other people would look at it in confusion trying to interpret its meaning.

How to make it :  Seen in the PDF

Our Ideas:

A pencil holder, Idea vs Execution

A paper clip holder, Idea vs Execution

Design Choices:

This was our first model of the pencil holder, still abstract but we could do more.

We went through a couple of design changes but didn't like how it looked.

So we added a wheel on top and one more sphere. But we ran into a little problem, on the top sphere the hole was too long and extruded out of the model. I fixed that by moving the circle and making it so that the extruded cut wouldn't go through the sphere. And I adjusted the bottom sphere so that it looked connected to the base.

There weren't enough spheres so my partner made more appear on the holder. But the connections to the spheres looked clunky and un-smooth. So my partner filleted the edges so it looked smooth.

The idea of this holder was just a simple hexagon box that had an open top and enclosed bottom.

But that looked boring so my partner decided to add some patterns to the bottom. But this was also boring so our final product was to make hexagon circle shapes on the sides (I know smart right?).
