Most important thing here is to change your “fill angle” to “0” so it prints side to side along the x axis, now each block can be used as a visual gauge for different z settings. Let it print the first block, and if needed adjust z as it moves into the next block, then let it run for that section. You get a nice large area to see if the new z is good, and it's easy to count back each block and see how much to adjust back if you went too far.
