This is a model I created for my RatRig VCore-4 500 IDEX.

Some models don't import in the correct orientation.

  • Main Body - Print with its back on the bed
  • Fan Grill - Print with “RatRoaster” face down on the bed
  • Heater Grill - Print with front of grill face down on the bed

Designed around the following parts:

Hardware needed:

  • (3) M4x4 Brass Heat Insert
  • (3) M4x8 Cap Head Bolt
  • (11) M3x3 Brass Heat Insert
  • (9) M3x8 Cap Head Bolt
  • (2) M3x35 Cap Head Bolt
  • (2) M6x12 Cap Head Bolt
  • (2) M6 T-Nut for 3030 Extrusion

This is was designed specifically around the VCore 4 500 IDEX. It MAY fit in the smaller models, but I have not verified this.

You will need misc. wires, JST connectors, crimpers, etc. Basic wiring skills are necessary.

Dual-Channel SSR linked above was chosen for multiple reasons:

  1. Saves space in RR VC4 electronics enclosure
  2. Doesn't require any extensions
  3. Controls the bed AND heater (Replaces stock SSR in RR VC4 enclosure used for the bed)
  4. QUALITY. Wont burn your house down like the $14 ones found on other sites.

You will need to install a thermistor in the fins of the heater core. See picture for location.

You will also need a separate thermistor for Chamber Temp if you don't have one already. The thermistors I linked above is a 3 pack.

I recommend this mount: https://www.printables.com/model/201457-thermistor-mount-on-3030-extrusion-frame

Configuration specific instructions specific to RatOS can be found with the following link. Please understand you will need to know what pins you chose for the thermistors and fan. Make sure your fan voltage is selected properly on your board. Once installed, you need to make sure you run a PID tune. https://os.ratrig.com/docs/configuration/chamber_heater

I'm always open to improvements on the design so feel free to let me know!
