Endless Design Lab’s Original Level Four Sierpiński Triangular Bipyramid Fractal has walls that make it easy to print in vase mode—fast and without supports. From the top, you can see all the way through it, but from the front, it looks solid. It’s self-similar, meaning smaller parts look like the whole, and it’s interesting to view from different angles.
I've included a 3MF for a plate with two halves. Print both halves and glue them together to capture the full self-similar fractal design, or print just one half as a pyramid—it still looks awesome on its own!
Be on the lookout for other levels in this series, coming soon to my page!
Print Settings:
This model was created and optimized for FDM printers with vase mode enabled. For best results, use spiral vase mode with the smooth spiral option unchecked in your slicer settings. If you don’t see the smooth spiral checkbox in your slicer, no worries—just be sure to use Spiralize Outer Contour (or a similarly named option in your slicer, such as spiral/vase mode).
Ensure your slice gap closing radius is set to 0, as this is critical for proper vase mode printing. Without this setting, the slicer may close gaps that are necessary for the model to slice and print correctly.
Enable the “Skirt” option in your slicer to maintain consistent nozzle pressure from the start. Without it, the first layer’s corners may appear deformed due to unprimed nozzle pressure.
If you want to print both halves at once like I've set up in the included 3MF, Enable "Print by Object" to print two objects on one plate in vase mode. Just make sure to leave enough space between them for extruder clearance!
