My main motivation for this remixing the rat roller model is to make it really easy to refill. Here is a quick video of this remix being refilled!
The toy still performs well. Here is a video of it in action.
Nonprintable Parts
Additional Parts Required!
> One M5 hex head bolt, 35 to 50mm in length.
> One M5 hexagonal nut
Print one of each printable part. I printed my parts in PLA on an A1 Mini with a .4mm nozzle with default settings for all parts and no supports. I used a generic basic PLA, but the roller assembly looks really cool in Silk PLA!
Here is a GIF that demonstrates how all the parts fit together
Pre-assembly : After printing, all threaded parts must be screwed together and taken apart a few times to break in the threads and remove any errant printed material. After removing any brim material and breaking in the threads proceed to assemble.
In lieu of step by step directions, I've included an assembly video below. The gist of it is screw parts together! Also, it takes some force to get the printed lock-nut-and-washer part screwed into place, so break in that thread!
Per the usual, good luck and happy printing!
The author remixed this model.
This is like the previous one, but it is very quick and easy to refill with treats - it can be refilled in less than a minute - even one handed! The roller and body come apart like a screw top jar and then the food goes in and then back in the cage it goes!
