Usage

This is designed to be used during rope bondage/shibari to add fun and randomness to your tying, and perfect for a rope jam. The spinners operate magnetically, so spinning the back spinner will also spin the front, and they will always line up perfectly with the arrow.

For ‘Attach’, spin the front spinner again, then attach those two body parts together. If desired, ‘Bamboo’ can also be used this way.

Additional Materials

18 or 20 magnets of 3mm x 12mm are necessary for the spinner (see Assembly Instructions). There is a model of just the magnet insert, so printing the entire spinner is unnecessary to check if your magnets will fit.

For additional strength, there is a 3mm hole down the center of the spindle. Any sort of round metal object (e.g., nail or coat hanger section) can be inserted to increase the strength of the model.

Print Instructions

Print with standard settings without supports, and an infill of 20% with 3 perimeters seems sufficient for strength. PETG is a better choice than PLA due to the constant pulling of the magnets.

Assembly Instructions

The base and rear spinner will take 4 and 8 magnets, respectively. The top spinner can be used with either 2 or 4 magnets, depending on how spinny you like it.

The magnets are easiest installed with channel locks placed between the magnets and the outer rim. They should snap snuggly into place. A flat-head screwdriver can be used to remove the magnets, if desired.

The spindle cap will need to be fixed in-place with adhesive (e.g., CA glue)

A little bit of silicone lube on the spindle will help movement.
