This model was printed in PLA with a layer height of 0.2 mm, a 0.4 mm nozzle, 40% infill, no supports, and no brim.

My "Mold Box" model stands out from others currently available online because it allows for the creation of a double mold using a removable spacer. This spacer, removed with the help of an included printable tool, creates space for an additional pour by flipping the mold. This feature is particularly useful for hollow pieces, filling voids with silicone or other mold-making materials.

The mold is fully disassemblable: the walls can be easily separated and are held in place by four corner sliders. The model is also parametric, allowing customization of width, height, and base thickness.

Usage Instructions

To use the model, assemble the walls and secure them with the four sliders. If needed, insert the removable spacer to create a double mold. This configuration is ideal for hollow pieces, enabling an additional pour to fill the voids.

The model can also be used for a standard two-part mold, utilizing the base to secure the piece with glue or plasticine. After the first pour, flip the mold, remove the spacer, and proceed with the second pour to complete the two-part mold.

Tips and Recommendations

Use a release wax, including on the box, to facilitate mold removal.

Choose a heat-resistant release wax if you are using materials like Prochima's Remould (50°C).

Clean all surfaces thoroughly before starting to ensure a uniform result.

Apply release wax when creating a two-part mold.

Remember to create alignment holes for centering the mold.

Place rods to form the resin pouring channels.

The imperfections visible in the mold are due to using an old release wax that is not suitable for the temperatures required by Prochima's mould.
