This is a remix of the Raspberry Pi 3 (B+) / 4 sleeve case designed to accommodate a CP-2102 USB to TTL breakout board, offering a small & compact way to fit into a single case. While I created this model to house a Viessmann Optolink splitter, it can be used for any project requiring a CP-2102 breakout board. The holder / case is designed to fit a Raspberry Pi 3 and was tested with a 3 B+ board.

The main component of this print is the holder for the CP-2102 breakout board, which fits neatly over the RPi 3/4 display port (which thus becomes unusable). The holder was designed for a CP2102 board from AZ-Delivery, however with minor modifications it should fit any other breakout board as well.

For any remixed changes, the holder is fully compatible with the original case, which can be easily adapted by adding a hole for the breakout board’s USB connector.

Print & Assembly

Everything can be printed without supports, so fit everything onto a build plate and print it. Then assembly is as straight forward as the print:

1. Fit the breakout board into the holder:

2. Put the holder onto the RPi and fit the cables:

3. Squeeze everything into the sleeve case:

Differences of the remix compared to the original

This print houses a CP2102 USB to TTL breakout board in addition to the original sleeve case. Some minor adaption have been made to the original case in order to fit the CP2102:

  • Scaled up slightly to improve the fit. With my prints I experienced that the original design was a very tight fit, up to the RPi “jamming up” in the case
  • Added an additional hole to the rear of the case, to accommodate the USB breakout board
  • Close off through holes that, due to housing the CP2102 board, are no longer used

Except the hole for the USB plug, the original case is still fully compatible with this print!
