hi, i was looking for a pinecil compact and practical case to carry around.

i took inspiration from Drew at printables.com/model/188072 but with improved functionality and easier to open/close safely. I always wanted to play with tpu and here i am finally.

It holds a pinecil body, a standard tip and a little screwdriver i had lying around (i think there are low quality almost standard) and a couple of little segments of lead in the spaces around the screwdriver. In this way you have always all of what you need to solder in a compact case.

The design counts on:

  • generous tolerances as its fine and i'm safe things fints and extract easily
  • a thin cut down the middle to connect the holes and add strenght
  • 0 infill to allow the cavity for lead
  • two ribs and a tpu lace to close everything
  • no need for tolerance tuning of snap fits

For ease of use, i heated and smashed one of the ribs so the lace doesn't come off by itself when open.

Print settings:

0,4mm nozzle, 3 perimeters, 0% infill, 2mm of bottom solid layers, 0 top solid layers, needs supports under the ribs

with 0,6mm nozzle use 2 perimeters

in the 3mf file there are 2 modifiers to allow 100% infill inside the ribs

the file named A has the body and the lace in the same file and is body is sliced to have the first 1mm of both printed in TPU with a multi material printer, the files named B are separated so you can print in two separate beds or with print single objects. Also included step and f3d files.

I think my design came out pretty good, let me know what you think about it!
