The counter now works perfectly, see updates at the bottom
This counter measures the consumption fairly accurately, as the measuring wheel of the first wheel has a circumference of exactly 98,25 mm. With half the filament diameter, this results in the measured 100mm per revolution
To zero, the slider on the left-hand side must be set to “Zero”, which locks the index wheels. Now the individual wheels can be turned to zero with a little force.
important: all wheels must be at the same height when zeroing, otherwise the slider will lock.
The model is still partially in testing, so updates will follow.
31.01.2025: no its no longer. Now its perfectly working :) another version with simple zeroing is currently in progress
- All parts printed with Prusa MK4S with layer height of 0,2mm
- Only tested with PETG
- the numbers in the wheels are offset by 0.01mm to print in two colors. if you only print in one color, the numbers will not be visible, so there is another set of wheels with lower numbers to print in one color. Download the visible wheels.
you will need the following items for assembly:
- 6X countersunk screw M4X12
- 4X cylinder head screw M4X20
- 3X ball bearing 608
{{UPDATE}}
- 11.01.2025: wheelset with visible numbers added
- 12.01.2025: i found a big mistake. the zero function was tested without the housing so i didn't see that the inner diameter of the housing was too small. when the wheels are turned too far they deform before they snap back into place and in this case the wheels press against the housing. the distance between the housing and the wheels was increased by 2mm. now it works :)
Please print “Grundkörper”, “Deckel links” and “Abschlussplatte Einzug” again. The files have been corrected
- 18.01.2025: Print parts with modified tolerance added: Grundkörper V2, Zählwerk V2, Sperrglied V2, Deckel links V2, Abschlussplatte Einzug V2
- 31.01.2025: Counter V1 is uploaded
All parts have been re-uploaded with slightly modified tolerances and appearance. The Z seam in the moving parts should still be removed and the tooth flanks of all teeth should be lightly ground to prevent blocking, but this is not absolutely necessary.
Furthermore, a 4mm hexagon was integrated into the measuring wheel if someone wants to zero the counter with a drill^^
At the beginning i was probably a little unlucky in my thinking and chose the wrong diameter of the measuring wheel. this was adjusted, now the thing counts correctly^^
