The Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane is a heavy-lift helicopter designed for transporting large and heavy cargo. First introduced in the 1960s, it features a distinctive skeletal design, optimized for maximum lifting capability. Powered by twin engines, the Skycrane can carry loads up to 20,000 pounds (about 9,070 kilograms), making it ideal for operations such as firefighting, construction, and disaster relief. Its innovative winch system and modular design allow it to transport prefabricated structures, pipelines, and even water tanks. The Skycrane remains an iconic workhorse in industries requiring precision and power in aerial transport.
