This is my Design of a Filament Runout Sensor.

To build it youll need a 12.5 x 7 x 6 mm Microswitch (Usually the ones on the Ender5/3 Limit switch boards).

Just solder the switch, i soldered mine normally open, to a length of cable and plug it in, then mount it in the case. In my case i had to cut the flag of the switch a little with some flush cutters to make it fit.

The case can be attached 2 ways either by pressfitting it on some 4mm PTFE Tubing or screwing it to the prtinter with 2x M4 Screws and T-Nuts.  Select the Lid accordingly.

When mounting it with PTFE Tubing use 2x M3 Heat Set Insterts and Screws to secure the lid.

Rotate the Sensor “upside down” like shown in the third picture, this will help guide the filament due to its natural curvature.

And dont forget to update the firmware of your printer to use it.
