The KP3S Pro is in an odd situation, missing alot of QOL features found on the V2 model. Almost no tutorials exist for these printers on upgrading them. The TZ V6 hotend presents another challenge, as its shorter height causes collisions with many of the stock parts.
This set of parts is meant to be used in combination with Printing Perspective's files.
List of changes:
- KP3S Pro Belt Clip: the shorter hotend causes the metal brackets on the X axis belt to collide with the bed. Use scissors to cut off these metal brackets, and secure the belt using this clip.
- KP3S E3D V6 Heatsink Cooler: The only changes are to allow for slotting M3 nuts, removing the need to use brass heat inserts.
- 5015 Fan Holder: Same as above
Notes I found with this conversion process:
- I used Marlin firmware for the printer, as a precompiled version has been made available here: https://github.com/mechano/Kingroon_KP3S_Pro_Marlin_Firmware.
- What I had not noticed initially is when the Z axis goes down to the printbed, a part of the Z axis frame will collide with the edge of the printbed. You will need to take an angle grinder to the X axis beam support and cut out a notch to prevent this from occurring.
- You will need to unscrew the Z axis manual leveling screw. Many users have pointed out that the BLTouch sensor should be plugged into the Z- plug, but I had to plug mine into the Z+ port when flashing Marlin.
Uploaded separately for licensing reasons is a BLTouch mount: https://www.printables.com/model/1137026-kp3s-pro-bltouch-mount
This conversion will require slightly fewer parts than the original, but two M4x12mm screws will be needed to mount both the BLTouch and the fan mount.
