I wasn't satisfied with the 3D printable shell supplied in the sgikbd repo, so I made my own.

Parts needed:

8x 3x8mm Screws
4x (Paper) Washers

The PCB gets screwed into the bottom of the case with 4 screws and 4 washers.
Then the Case is held together with 4 more screws on the sides.

You might be able to go without the internal screws if you don't mind the PCB rattling around a bit. The tolerances are tight enough that this won't cause any functional issues.

There are 3 versions of the top shell available:

  • sgikbd_case_top_mmu: The icons are part of the model and can be printed in a different color on any printer that supports it.
  • sgikbd_case_top_inset: The icons are inset into the plastic by 0.6mm. Only one color needed.
  • sgikbd_case_top_noicon: There are no icons.

When printing one of the top shells with icons, make sure to enable ‘detect thin walls’ in your slicer.
