UPDATE: clearance for plates increased to 0.2, minor updates to fit with my other gridfinity models
This is a 5x holder for the great E3D Evo nozzle system.
I'm using it on my Bambulab X1C with the BIQU Panda Revo Hotend, which is unfortunately really expensive, but worth the money, because you can really easy change the nozzle in a few seconds. If you think about buying them over BIQU, I can also recommend Panda Lux LED.
I've also bought Panda Claw, which currently works but I wouldn't recommend it: the gear runs out of round in my case. But keep your fingers away from the Panda Extruder!
It has the big design issue, that the high temps went thru the body to the gear system, which clogged the filament at the end of the print, when the fan switched off.
I'm using a 0.4 nozzle here. No support is needed.
But the nameplates are really tight.
I've used 0.15 clearance, but bambustudio has sliced the guides for the nameplates too tight. It worked, but I need a lot of force to slide them in. After I broke one of them, I rescaled a nameplate to 95% and then it was easy.
Coloring the nameplates (if you have an AMS or so):
Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Color Painting Tool in BambuStudio.
You can control the color on the surface with it, but not the depth of the color. Which leads to unclean prints.
There is an easy way: In my case I wanted black for the text to get a better contrast for light colors like yellow. Choose black as your default color.
Then click on “Preview”. You will get 6 layers (5 after scaling to 95%).
Use the ‘+’ symbol on the layer scrollbar and go to layer 3, right-click/Change Filament/white.
Then go to layer 4 and change it to yellow.
The white color after the 3 black layers just leads to a lighter color for the next two layers. Without that white layer the yellow gets dark and “dirty”.
For dark colors like blue, you only need two colors. If you want to get a darker blue, you can use the same trick and choose black for layer 3.
I will maybe create a version with 10 nozzles on a 2x gridfinity unit later.
There is enough place but currently I have only bought 4 Evo nozzles.
Maybe I will buy the expensive obsidian or high flow nozzles later. Atm. I'm lucky with the cheap ones. ;-)
