SMEG Dishwasher Air Break Nut Tool

I designed this tool out of necessity when our dishwasher started leaking. The first step of the repair was to unscrew the air break nut… and there was no chance to even properly grab it - it was angled, it was slippery, it just wasn't happening.

This tool has ridges designed to fit into the features of the lock nut in my SMEG dishwasher (I have the DI6012-1 model but I believe many other models use the same lock nut) and avoid any damage to the part. The tool has a nice and grippy surface to allow you to decently grab the locking nut. It also has holes cut out to allow you to slot something in for extra leverage (I didn't have to use extra leverage in the end). You can find suggestions online to take pliers to the dishwasher lock nut which I think is just asking for another costly repair. Please bear in mind, you are working on your dishwasher entirely at your own risk.

I printed it out of PETG but I think PLA should work fine too, just make sure to have a minimum of 4 walls, 4 top & bottom layers and 30% infill. If you want to get really fancy you can have 30% infill up to the cutout part, then set the infll to 100%, so that the elements engaging with the lock nut are absolutely solid.
