Description:
This Metric Nut and Bolt Tolerance Tester is a practical tool for dialing in your 3D printer's accuracy and optimizing your designs for M3, M4, M5, and M6 fasteners. The tester includes two models:

  1. Metric Nuts and Bolts Tolerance Test +0.1mm: Features cutouts with clearances starting at 0.0 mm and increasing in 0.1 mm increments up to 0.5 mm.
  2. Metric Nuts and Bolts Tolerance Test +0.2mm: Features cutouts with clearances starting at 0.0 mm and increasing in 0.2 mm increments up to 1.0 mm.

These variations allow you to test both press-fit and clearance-fit tolerances, ensuring your parts are perfectly tailored to your 3D printer’s capabilities.

Instructions for Use:

  1. Print the Tester: Use your desired infill, layer height, and print speeds to best represent your printer and slicer settings. Ensure good bed adhesion and minimal stringing for accurate results.
  2. Test Fasteners: Insert M3, M4, M5, or M6 nuts and bolts into the corresponding cutouts. Test each clearance increment to find the best fit for your application.
  3. Record Results: Note which cutout provides a snug press-fit or a smooth clearance fit. Use these measurements to adjust your CAD models for optimal tolerances.
  4. Printer Calibration: If none of the fits seem accurate, consider calibrating your printer’s steps/mm or extrusion multiplier to improve dimensional accuracy.

This tool is perfect for makers, engineers, and designers aiming to create functional, dimensionally precise 3D-printed assemblies. Print yours today and take the guesswork out of designing for fasteners!
