With Christmas rapidly approaching, I decided give HueForge a try. I was able to create some great shadow boxes using it, but needed something to put them in. I decided to give FreeCAD as shot, and here are the results. I recommend printing with a brim if your bed adhesion isn't absolutely great.

When you open the file, you will find an embedded spreadsheet called “Specsheet” that contains the parameters for the file. Bezel size, height, width, and several other parameters are in there, so you can make a frame for any occasion. Adjusting them in the sheet should automatically adjust the model. Once you are done, you can click on the “Frame” and “Cover” separately to export them. The cover will come out up-side-down, so flip it over in your slicer.

Version 2 has been uploaded, which now includes several new features, including a nail alignment feature on the back and several more parameters to tweak.

The example image provided used the slicer to add 1 layer of transparent as the first layer, then multicolored layer on layer 2, then just plain black for the rest. Just for an FYI, the image was designed and printed using HueForge.

Share, use, or sell the exports however you like. Attribution only applies to the FreeCAD file.
