I did another experiment with TPU/PLA Multi-Material printing.
I changed the interface section in a way that over a configurable number of layers the 2 materials get kind of "woven" (per layer) to each other (see pic of interface section).
This results in a really strong bond between the PLA & TPU that cannot be separated without brute force..
Quite happy with the results so far. The flexible hinges work great using this method..
This is a prototype of a customizable roll-up box i am working on... just the first test print of the still unfinished design to test the material bond and the flexibility of the TPU hinges...
I printed this on a standard MK3 without MMU using a single extruder.
the profile used is my multi color/material profile i wrote about here: https://schlosshan.eu/blog/2019/03/02/prusa-i3-mk3-real-multicolour-prints-without-mmu/
If you want to print the included GCODE, watch out! it is sliced for a non MMU printer and requires 3 manual filament changes (which the printer will ask for automatically).
The order of filaments for this is:
;Filament Color:: 1 red (start with TPU)
;Filament Color:: 0 yellow (PLA)
;Filament Color:: 1 red
;Filament Color:: 0 yellow
