When my wife got a Bafang motor installed on her bicycle, I immediately noticed the edge of the + and - buttons of the controller. They can easily be damaged because things (fabrics like scarfs, coats) can get caught behind the bottom edge of the buttons. I offered to create something to prevent it. But it wasn't neccecary she assured me, she didn't want it. I knew better.

So last week she came to me. Buttons damaged. Who would have thought of that? Sigh.

I ordered a new controller AND created a protective casing.

Placement:

  1. Controller needs to be removed from the handle bar. Then the controller can be placed in the lower part of the protective case. The right side has a small cutout for the wire.
  2. Put controller and lower part of the protective onto the handle bar and tighten the original bolt and nut of the controller.
  3. Press the top part on the lower part and use 6 M3 screws to connect the 2 parts together. Screws need to be inserted from below.

Luckily I printed 100% PETG. The handlebar in my case isn't just 22mm but has a mirror mounted at the end. The miror part is thicker so I had to remove plastic on the lower part to make it fit around the mirror part. With a normal 22mm handle bar it's no problem.
