A Star – Countless Possibilities

Christmas always seems to come faster than expected. Maybe this star can help with your decorations.

What You’ll Need

You’ll need 12 star tips. These can be printed standing up, and with a brim, I had excellent results. The center piece (a dodecahedron, by the way) needs to be printed once. It also prints perfectly without supports. In my case, the parts fit tightly enough to hold together on their own. Depending on your printer’s calibration, you may need to sand the edges slightly or glue the tips in place.

Variations

I only printed 12 tips for my pictures. The different variations can be created with minimal effort afterward:

• Single color without lighting: Print the star in your favorite color! The print settings here are flexible. You can use many walls and infill or even vase mode—it will all work well.
• Transparent with lighting: I found a small LED string light at a local discount store, where the LEDs are connected by just two thin wires. I placed the last LED inside the center piece (dodecahedron) and secured it by attaching the final star tip. For the best transparency, print the tips with a single wall and no infill. Vase mode works well here too.
• Transparent with color accents: Each star tip has a small hole in the middle, where you can insert a strand of filament in any color. In this case, do not print the tips in vase mode, as the hole won’t be printed.
• Transparent with color accents and lighting: You can also add lighting to this variation for an extra festive touch.

Note: To achieve the mentioned ~15g of filament usage, I printed the tips with one wall and no infill (using a 0.4mm nozzle). The dodecahedron was sliced with three walls.

Ein Stern - zahlreiche Möglichkeiten

Weihnachten kommt doch immer schneller, als man denkt. Vielleicht hilft dieser Stern bei der Dekoration.

Du benötigst 12 mal die Zacke. Diese kann man stehend drucken - mit Brim hat das bei mir hervorragend geklappt. Das Innenteil (übrigens ein Dodekaeder) muss einmal gedruckt werden. Auch das funktioniert ohne Support. Bei mir sitzen die Teile eng genug, um selbstständig zu halten. Je nach Kalibrierung des Druckers kann es aber nötig sein, etwas zu schleifen oder die Spitzen fest zu kleben.

Für meine Bilder musste ich nur 12 Zacken drucken. Die verschiedenen Variationen kann man mit wenig Aufwand im Nachhinein erstellen:

• einfarbig ohne Beleuchtung - Drucke den Stern in deiner Lieblingsfarbe! Die Druckeinstellungen sind hier nebensächlich. Sowohl viele Wände und Infill als auch der Vasemode werden hier funktionieren.
• transparent mit Beleuchtung - Ich habe im lokalen Ramschladen eine kleine LED-Lichterkette gekauft, bei der die LEDs nur mit 2 dünnen Drähten verbunden sind. Die letzte LED konnte ich in das Mittelteil (Dodekaeder) legen und mit der letzten Spitze festklemmen. Für die beste Transparenz sollten die Zacken hier ohne Infill und mit nur einer Wand gedruckt werden. Auch der Vasemode funktioniert.
• transparent mit Farbakzent - In der Mitte der Zacken befindet sich jeweils eine Bohrung, in die ein Strang Filament beliebiger Farbe gesteckt werden kann. Hier dürfen die Zacken keinesfalls im Vasemode gedruckt werden, da die Bohrung sonst nicht mitgedruckt wird.
• transparent mit Farbakzent und Beleuchtung - natürlich kann auch in dieser Variante eine Beleuchtung hinzugefügt werden.
