Gift Box #20

This is the twentieth gift box in a series that may all look the same on the outside but each have a secret way of opening.

Pulling out two sides of the bow on this box releases all four catches allowing the box top to be pulled off. The seam is hidden under the center of the bow so there are no visible clues.

Print Instructions

Its roughly 100mm x 100m x 80mm tall. The top prints in place as one part, none of the parts require supports. The bow and ribbons are printed separately and glued on. I printed all the parts in the orientation provided. I prefer the vertical orientation for the ribbons for a smoother surface finish.  I added helper pads to them to keep them stable during printing. I printed everything at .2 layer heights but the box could definitely be printed at a larger layer height without issue. I added helper pads to them to keep them stable during printing. For best results use a .4mm nozzle.

The bow and ribbons for the top are printed separately and are glued on. I used Starbond's Thick CA Glue(aff). Be careful when gluing on the moving ribbons, I used their thick glue and only put it on the top of the post the ribbon glues onto. If you don’t already own as set of these clamps (aff.) you should pick them up, they really help with gluing the ribbons on.

Thanks to Jamg HE for being the filament sponsor by providing their PLA+ for this years gift boxes. I used their green, blue and white for this box. You can get an additional 10% off with coupon code: ICEDC0611 using this link. Its a good deal for PLA+ when multiple spools are purchased.

Printed on the Muldex rep-rap IDEX printer.
