While planning this project I wanted to put the split flap display in a wooden frame. In order to organize my units I wanted them connected very firmly so I can carry them around without the fear of falling apart. Also I wanted it to be separate easily if I need to replace one.

The result was the modification of the UnitFrame. In order to connect two frames you need:

  • M3 square nut
  • M3x8 screw
  • 10x4 connector (printed)

As the 10x4 connector is a tolerance piece please print some variations at 96% 98% 100% scale to see which fits best with your printers tolerance.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

The UnitFrame was modified to comply with following features:

  • Extrude all parts to the full width (same as the back panel)
  • Add mounting points for the frames on the left and right side. This includes possibility to screw modules on the back and pin connectors on the front
  •  Remove original mounting holes and replace them with optional anchors
