I have a lot of Zigbee sensors that use coin cell batteries, and honestly, I’m tired of constantly replacing them, especially since they’re quite expensive. On top of that, when placing the sensors outdoors, the batteries last less than half the promised time.
For this reason, I decided that AA batteries are a much better option for sensors placed outdoors, even if they increase the device's size. The lid of the box fits slightly snug with the current dimensions, preventing it from opening accidentally or falling out of place. I personally use these boxes in a vertical position.
I also added a chamfer to one end of the box and lid to make them easier to open.
Additionally, I found another use for these boxes: powering coin-cell electronic candles for a small 3D-printed Christmas tree. With a nice ribbon, they blend perfectly into the holiday decor.
The Christmas tree from the last picture can be found here, it is amazing from my point of view. I added a resized printed star to it, which my daughter covered with glue and white/red glitter :) (Let me know if you want the STL file for that star, it is very small and nice, it looks like the stars from Nintendo Mario Games)
